UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND FORMULA SAE TEAM
We are The University of Auckland’s Formula SAE Team, also known as FSAE47.
We are New Zealand’s oldest Formula SAE team and the first Kiwi team to bring the overall EV win home. Our rich history goes back 20 years, and we are proud to keep the legacy going over all these years. FSAE47 allows engineering students to apply the theoretical knowledge taught in class while gaining unique knowledge, such as working with carbon fiber and learning about vehicle dynamics.
Our alums have joined high-performance engineering fields such as Motorsports (McLaren Automotive, Red Bull F1), Aerospace (Rocketlab, Gilmour Space), Software (Halter, Partly), and many others.

our subgroups
Composites manufactures the chassis and the aerodynamic package. The subgroup is in charge of the core part of the car, which everything bolts onto and, therefore, is often the first to be finished.
The Mechanical subgroup consists of the driveline and suspension systems. They design and manufacture crucial components such as the steering system and gearboxes.
Electrical is in charge of the power source of the car and everything connected to it. This includes the accumulator, the inverter, the motors, and all the data acquisition systems.
The Race Team is in charge of our cars' assembly, maintenance, and testing. The Vehicle Dynamics members ensure we have the best setup for peak performance on track.
The business Team handles every non-engineering aspect of the team to keep it going. Their task includes media, sponsorship, and events. This allows non-engineering students to join the team.
Our newest subgroup is attempting to build an autonomous system for our cars. This opens the project to new technology and enables us to compete in specific European competitions.
