The Faculty of Engineering has in excess of 2000 students, 2200 at undergraduate level, 150 in taught postgraduate programmes and 200 research postgraduate students.
A range of specialisations are available in the Bachelor of Engineering degree. New specialisations, such as software engineering and biomedical engineering, have been introduced in recent years, in response to the changing needs of society.
Research is also a key activity at the Faculty, with large scale research activities and collaborations with other institutions and members of the industry. Much of the work undertaken is of a world-class level, while in many areas, the research programmes, and academics and students involved, are clearly leading the world in their discoveries and developments.

The Auckland University Mechanical Engineering department provides a proven and practical engineering degree programme with majors in Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics. The design and project intensive curriculum will provides the expertise to solve real-life and complex engineering problems and prepares for the challenges of designing and manufacturing advanced products and services for the 21st Century.
The post-graduate and research programmes are far ranging and include areas such as plastics and composite materials, fuel efficiency and combustion, STEP-NC programing and manufacturing, yacht and sail design, and more.

PSP Engineering offers a full range of engineering, design, and CNC machining services. They have expertise in Toolmaking & Designing, Production Engineering, CNC Machining, Precision Component Manufacturing, Marine Equipment Manufacturing and overhauling and 3D Design.
In 2011 the team welcomes PSP on board as a major sponsor. PSP Engineering have machined a crankcase for the team as well as a number of other high precision powertrain components.
