With only one year to complete a prototype, a group of 30 students have set out yet again to test their engineering skills in the development of an open wheel race car. Since 2004, competing regularly in the Formula SAE Australasia event, The University of Auckland Formula SAE Team has created a reputation for being a surprise package.
Formula SAE is an internationally renowned design competition in which teams from all over the globe compete. Since our first appearance in 2004, when the team bagged the FISITA Best Rookie Award after placing sixth overall, the team has consistently placed in the top ten. This year the team aims to go one step further and earn a podium finish.
With the support of the University and numerous loyal sponsors, the team strives to not only do them proud, but to cement New Zealand as a leading innovative country.
